2015 marks the 45th anniversary of Environmental Works – quite a milestone for an organization that started with the idea that by working with communities, together we can create spaces and places that empower, connect, and create vitality.

Earth Day 2015 marks Environmental Works’ 45th Anniversary! We were established in 1970, the same year of the first Earth Day. To mark this momentous occasion, we handed out daffodils to our neighbors, just as our founders did when they opened Environmental Works 45 years ago!

Capitol Hill, Seattle and Shelton, Mason County could not be more different when it comes to context. While Capitol Hill sits near the center of an energetic, growing city, Shelton’s location at the southernmost tip of Puget Sound offers forested hills, farm and dairy fields, and oyster cultivation in quiet harbors.

Amidst Magnuson Park’s wide variety of built and natural community resources sits Solid Ground’s Santos Place, an historic WWII soldiers’ barracks that now houses 42 formerly homeless men and women.
