Karen Vijayanand

Born and raised in Chennai, India, since early on, Karen has associated herself with being an urban form enthusiast. Her Bachelors of Architecture from Anna University, India, and Masters in Urban Design from Georgia Tech, Atlanta, and with being brought up in a culturally diverse backdrop, Karen aims to understand, advocate for, and practice synergies between the 4 C’s – Community, Culture, Context, and the City. With previous work experience in Atlanta, being part of and leading Catalyst projects in Urban Design and Planning her work continues now in Seattle with Environmental Works with a focus on inclusive and equitable housing and mixed-use development that foster community and diversity. Outside of work, Karen focuses her time on volunteering, travelling, and in photography.
