Markus Barrera-Kolb
Project ARCHITECT 3, technology manager
Markus’s (he/him) engagement with social justice issues, workers’ rights, and housing equity, combined with ecological concerns and the knowledge that climate change impacts low-income communities disproportionately, led him to Environmental Works and its community-focused work.
Markus brings to Environmental Works 20 years of experience in residential architecture, and nine years as a Certified Passive House Consultant (Passive House Institute US). He co-founded the regional Passive House Northwest advocacy organization in 2010. He has accumulated expertise in Passive House energy modeling, building physics, and envelope detailing. He has also worked as a carpenter and fine-furniture maker.
