Gretchen Claire
Community Relations Manager
Gretchen Claire (she/her) has 9 years of experience in graphic design, hand drawn & digital illustration, book design, and visual communication. She specializes in designing all things typographic – personal & professional brand design, infographics, cover art, report & data design, and signage of all flavors. Always looking for a new passion project, she spends her time assembling journals & re-binding books, playing the piano, and taking her wire-haired mutt & tabby cat out for afternoon walks.
Since joining Environmental Works in 2017, Gretchen has acted as Lead Graphic Designer & manages the Community Relations team: establishing the visual communication & maintaining brand standards across the organization. Additionally, she navigates between project teams in the office to provide graphic design for wayfinding design, mural & monument design, high-quality visuals, and design for effective project communication. She also manages the design of a high volume of deadline-driven statement of qualifications (SOQs)/proposals, and leads the design efforts of EW’s promotional publications - which include a community design methodology toolkit & social justice-themed monthly planner.
Gretchen believes beautiful design is a powerful tool for uplifting human dignity - and aims to amplify by design the voices of the communities in every project she has the opportunity to contribute to.
