Brook Goodwin

Landscape and Urban Designer

Brook (they/them) focuses on the intersections of society, nature, and climate in the built environment through the lens of landscape architecture and urban design. They believe that streets, parks, and public lands should be designed to serve the unique needs of local communities by supporting participatory design, social justice, housing equity, and equal access to nature and outdoor recreation. This led them to Environmental Works and its community- and non-profit-focused work. Brook’s interests include climate change adaptation, green stormwater infrastructure, waterfront parks, shoreline restoration, and coastal ecology.

Brook is a recent graduate from the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington. Their thesis was "Coastal Forests as a Tsunami Mitigation Measure in Pacific Northwest Coastal Communities" (2022). Next, they plan to pursue licensure in landscape architecture and certification in urban planning.

In their free time, Brook enjoys reading, movies and iconic films, photography, boardgaming, and gardening. They will also take any opportunity to go kayaking, sailing, hiking, and camping to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest landscapes.
