Vine Maple Place Family Hope Center

Community Facilities

In response to increasing numbers of homeless families in Maple Valley, Vine Maple Place formed as a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless families build lives of hope and stability. Environmental Works worked with Vine Maple Place to create the new Family Hope Center to enable the provision of services to the growing numbers of families in need.

Vine Maple Place staff participated in a visioning exercise and hands-on design charrette for a new social service center serving homeless families in Maple Valley. Initial design ideas were developed in small groups and visual preferences for the interior and exterior of the building were reviewed and discussed.

The Family Hope Center welcomes families into a warm, supportive environment that offers financial literacy training, employment and livable-wage development, child care and advocacy, life skills development, and housing assistance. The facility design maximizes the use of the site to maximize the number of families served. Exposed structure and building systems, plus donated construction materials and labor, kept costs down. Abundant natural light creates an uplifting environment that honors the value of every family and allows them to thrive.
